As promised, I'm about to try fill those of you that actually look at our blog, in on our trip to Suriname. Sorry it's taken so long...
To start off with, Suriname is a country in South America that is very small. They speak Dutch there, because they were governed by Holland, until the 1975 when they gain independence. But the people there are approx. 1/3 Creole or Black, 1/3 Hindu and 1/3 Inodonesian, so they also speak a language there called Sranan Tango which is combination of lots of languages and is very simple.

Dan went on his mission there and has wanted to go back ever since. And being the amazing guy that he is, he actually made it happen, unlike every other missionary that has left Suriname with the intent to go back, but never does.
We began our adventure by driving to boise and flew out from there to Phonix, Boston, then Charlotte, to Aruba, and finally to Suriname! It took two days, with an 8 hour lay over in boston. Now that was an interesting place...Boston. It was midnight when we got there, but we decided to venture out into the city to see it since we will probably never be there again.
We got to see historic boston at 1 in the morning and A LOT of skantly dressed club goers. It was very cool (the city) and surprisingly interesting (the people).
This is us taking the last subway into downtown boston. Dan had never ridden a subway before. It was fun to get to experience this first of his with him :) What a cutie he is!
This is what we saw when we first came out of the subway...historic downtown boston. So Cool! This is the old city hall I think and the cite of the boston massacre.
We miandered all night around downtown and got to see the sun rise in Boston.
Overall Boston was a cool experience, but you wouldn't think it would be so hard to find food in a city that big. You know the saying, the city never sleeps. Well Boston does and they sleep in real late too. All we could find that was open 24 hours was a lame Seven 11. In the morning we waited in front of a McDonald's which didn't open on time or at all that we could tell cause we finally had to leave and get back to the airport, very hungry and begrugged to pay aiport food prices because Boston didn't provide.
We stopped in Aruba, which turned out to be a very small, hot and windy.
The Billboard reads, " I ♥ Aruba."

Here we are in windy Aruba.
What follows is us with 48 Hours of Plane Travel and Boston wondering behind us. I'm a little scary looking and very ready for a shower and bed!
Dan upon arrival in Suriname. I don't think he's excited at all :)
Karen in all her lovelyness taking her first steps on Suriname soil, after 48 hours in a plane, let me remind you...again.
More to come of our time in Suriname ... later

What a heck of a time you guys went through to get to Suriname! That's a long trip to sit on planes, wait for layovers to end, starve, walk endlessly to places that won't open and all sorts of other experiences that I'm sure you don't want to remember!!
I can't wait to hear the rest of it, see the pictures that made your whole trip worth it!!! Love ya.
