Catching Up

Wow, I haven't been on here for awhile. So considering that I thought it would be fitting to get you all caught up.

Daniel has started another semester. . . his LAST!!! Yes, this is his last semester at U. of I. He is majoring in Secondary Education, getting teaching certificates in Theater Arts & Speech and Physics. We will move in may and he'll student teach up in CD'A in the Fall.
This semester Dan has only 12 credits which is a first. He only goes into work 5 days a week instead of the 6 days he's been doing ever since we moved here. It's so nice to see him more often than we're used to!
I'd better not get too used to it though because before I know it his evening rehersals will begin for Grease. Dan got cast as Kinickie. I'm very excited for him and am very pleased to learn that the Musical version is very clean, unlike the movie Grease.

Karen is loving staying at home with Gus and being a Mommy! Being a mother is the most demanding thing I've ever done but also the most rewarding. Motherhood is such a fun adventure and Gus makes everyday new and different. I love both my boys so much!
As it's been almost 4 months since Gus was born I've of course fully recovered from the C-Section. I'm keepig an eye on my blood sugars still because of the Gestational Diabetes. It's not quite as low as I'd like, but not bad. Because of this I've finally gotten enough motivation to start working out regularly because it helps with keeping blood sugars low. And though I'm back to pre-pregnancy weight (thank you breast feeding!), I may lose some additional weight too, by working out which also helps prevent diabetes.

now onto who you really come here to hear about...

Gus is growing like a weed! I can't believe how much he has grown. My wonderful friend Desee just had here baby and holding her little boy reminded me that Gus was once that tiny. But not anymore. He'll be 4 months on Feb. 2nd and I recently had him weighed and measured. He weighed in at 15 lbs. 14 oz. and 25 inches long.
He's getting very coordinated with his hands now, and can bring objects he gets his hands on to his mouth. He's always been a big talker, but lately he's discovered that he can squeal and has a great time filling our house with his voice. He's still working on rolling over, though he's done it a couple times, but more by accident than effort. He'd much rather be sitting up or standing with some balancing help.
He is so delightful and brings us both so much joy! People always tell you once you have your child with you pretty soon you don't know what you did with out them, and I have to say everyone was completely right. Sometimes we still can't believe that Gus is here and ours, so beautiful and wonderful, and yet we also feel sure he is meant to be part of our family and don't know what we'd do with out the precious little boy!
