365 days. 52 weeks. 12 months . . . 1 YEAR!!!

One year ago we welcomed our little baby boy, Daniel Augustus into the world and our lives. They have never been the same. He has taught us, moved us, and changed us. As parents it's a miracous experience watching your child grow and bloom into a little person full of personality unique to them. And it's only the beginning. We are SO grateful to have Gus as part of our family!

On the big day we threw a little birthday bash for Gus. We live very near some railroad tracks, so we see and hear trains go by everyday. Gus has grown to love the trains and always rushes to the sliding glass door to watch them go by when he hears them outside. So it wasn't hard to settle on a theme for his first birthday-trains.

Here's to you Gus!

Birthday Invitations:

Rail Road Crossing sign greeting people as they arrived at the party:

My mom made this beautiful banner:

Gus the Train Enginner! I found the overalls at a thrift store, but had to let out the hems because he's growing so fast. I couldn't resist making him the little engineer hat to go with the outfit. I also just happened to have the bithday bib given to me which matched :)

Just hanging out with mommy:

I made this cake with my cousin, and it was a blast! We spent an entire afternoon just making a mess of the kitchen to arrive at our final masterpiece. Thanks for the help and fun Stacey!

Before we sang him "Happy Birthday" for the first time. He's mesmerized by the candle!

Proud Parents with our little birthday boy!

Taking his first taste of the cake. . .

A little more. . .

Now he's gettin' into it!

Grand Finale=Big Mess:

What a loved little boy! He got so many great gifts like blocks, puppets, cars and books. He has no excuse to be bored now for awhile :)

I made him these soft soled shoes as one of his birthday presents since he's beginning to walk and needs things to cover his feet, and I couldn't resist tying them into the theme. It's a train engine and caboose.

Playing with his train set from mommy and daddy:

Amazing cake! I've made Crew several sets of crib shoes as well! He kept ripping off toe nails and these definitely help. Very cute.
